With earth day behind us, and eco fashion week right around the corner here in Vancouver, I thought what better time than now to highlight some eco friendly fashions and designers.

FERAL CHILDE is a women's wear line created by designers Moriah Carlson and Alice Wu, who both carry a diploma in fine art. The duo uses materials such as cotton, hemp, tencel, cupro, linen and silk. The manufacturing is kept within the United States, and is based in Brooklyn and New York City. Once the lines are complete, the girls give any left over fabric to other independent designers, recycling factories, or crafters and schools. LOOMSTATE is a company that is based around organic cotton. This includes but is not limited to the farmers who produce the cotton, the communities that help in the production, and the environment as a hole. Loomstate owns several cotton farms, as well as use some which are owned by other communities. These farms however, all have the same morals and commitments; soil security, farmer knowledge, and organic food potential. DANIEL SILVERSTEIN designer and ZERO WASTE enthusiast is a firm believer in using all the fabric you can, and keeping 'toss away' fabric to a minimum. Daniel Silverstein uses a unique form of drapery as to waste the least amount of fabric as possible, if any. "Spine” details and special embellishments wrap around the body to use the full yardage of fabric put into each piece."
